Production: Bay leaves come from a flowering evergreen tree that has glabrous leaves and is native to tropical regions.
Qualities: Aromatic bay leaves are often used in food preparations to add flavor to dishes. In herbal medicine, they are used topically in salves, essential oils, or as poultices.
Common Use: Most commonly, a couple whole leaves are added to pasta sauces, soups, and other recipes, to add flavor while cooking, which are subsequently removed from dishes before serving.
Bay leaves help manage various health issues such as arthritis, diabetes, digestive problems, respiratory ailments, and infections. In addition, you can apply bay leaf oil on the skin for muscle and joint pain and reduce inflammation at the wound site.
